Coptic Synaxarium
Privacy Policy
Effective September 30, 2026 · Developer: Mina Hanna
Coptic Synaxarium is a daily reading app. Reading and searching do not require an account. This policy explains information handled by the app, its update services, and optional support channels.
Reading and searching
In the native app (version 2.0 and later), the reading library is bundled with the app and can be used offline. Search queries and date selections are processed on your device. The app does not send your searches, reading history, or calendar contents to the developer, and contains no advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDK.
The app and its widget share a local copy of the reading library and update-check information using Apple's App Group storage. This lets the widget and app show the same readings; it is not a user account or a developer-operated cloud profile.
Reading updates and hosting
When online, version 2.0 and later can automatically check for a newer reading library, normally at most once a day. You can also request an update from About. These requests download the public library from GitHub and do not include your search query, selected reading, or calendar data. Reading remains available without a connection.
Like other internet requests, downloading updates or opening this policy exposes technical connection information, such as your IP address, to the hosting provider. GitHub may process request information under its privacy statement. The app does not add an advertising identifier or a developer-generated user identifier to reading-update requests.
Older Expo-based releases contact Expo's update service and send technical update-request information, including the operating system, app/update version, and a random installation token. After an update failure, these requests can also include recent failed-update identifiers and a shortened error message. Expo's App Store guidance classifies its update module as collecting crash data. Expo processes this information under its privacy policy. The native version 2.0 app no longer uses Expo or sends these Expo update diagnostics.
Optional calendar access
If you choose to add an observance to your calendar, the app asks for calendar permission and creates a one-time, all-day event. On iOS 17 and later it requests write-only access. Earlier supported iOS versions use the system's older calendar permission. The app does not read your existing events to build a profile or upload your calendar to the developer.
You can change calendar permission in Settings. Events you create are managed by your chosen calendar provider and may sync according to your calendar settings. Deleting the app does not delete those events; you can remove them in Calendar.
Sharing and copying
Sharing opens Apple's share sheet so you can choose a recipient or another app. Copying places the selected reading on the system clipboard. The developer does not receive the reading or recipient information through these actions. Apps and services you choose to share with have their own privacy practices.
Support and corrections
Contacting support is optional. “Report a correction” opens a draft in your email app; it does not send automatically. A reading-specific draft includes the reading's identifier, title, Coptic date, content version, and source reference. You can review or remove that information before sending.
If you email the developer or use the support form, the developer receives the message and any contact details or attachments you choose to provide. This information is used to respond, investigate issues, and maintain the reading library—not for advertising or tracking. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information. Email and form providers process submissions under their own policies, including Google's privacy policy for the Google Forms support page.
Support correspondence is retained as needed to address the request, maintain a record of the issue, and meet applicable obligations. You can ask to access, correct, or delete correspondence by contacting the developer. Personal contact details are not needed in a published reading correction.
Apple services and your choices
Apple manages App Store downloads, purchases if any, TestFlight feedback, and any system diagnostics you choose to share under Apple's privacy policy and your device settings. These system services are separate from an analytics SDK in the app.
You can read offline, decline calendar access, and choose not to send support messages. Removing the app and widget removes their local data subject to Apple's backup and device-storage behavior. Shared copies, sent messages, and calendar events are managed separately by the destinations you selected.
Children and privacy
The app does not offer child accounts or collect age information. Its native reading and search features do not require personal information. If you believe a child has sent personal information through a support channel, contact the developer to request its removal. The App Store age rating concerns the reading content and is separate from these privacy practices.
